Siruthuli, an environmental organisation, has been undertaking various conservation initiatives since 2003, with a focus on water resource protection and the restoration of water bodies in Coimbatore. Under its Green Cover initiative, the organisation has planted more than 10 lakh saplings so far.

It has also developed over 200 green spaces on various sites, including Corporation land, Railway Department land, educational institutions, village panchayat land and land belonging to the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.

Around 1.5 lakh saplings’ worth of land has now been identified across Coimbatore for further plantation initiatives.

As part of these efforts, Siruthuli, in association with Perur-Chettipalayam Panchayat, has launched the ‘Rotary Unite Vanam’ project on land belonging to Arulmigu Bala Ganapathy Temple, under the control of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.

The initiative is supported by Rotary clubs across Coimbatore and aims to plant around one lakh saplings.
