Farm inputs available at subsidised rates in Karur

Farmers requiring these inputs have been advised to contact their respective block agricultural extension centres to avail themselves of the supplies at subsidised rates.

With the onset of the northeast monsoon, cultivation of paddy, sorghum, maize, black gram and sesame is under way in Karur district. Farmers can obtain seeds, biofertilisers and biological control agents at subsidised rates from agricultural extension centres across the district, Collector C. Muthukumar said.

According to the Collector, the agricultural extension centres have stocked 87 tonne of paddy seeds, 10 tonne of sorghum, 2.4 tonne of maize, six tonnes of red gram, 15 tonne of black gram, 15.5 tonne of groundnut and 4.2 tonne of sesame seeds for distribution to farmers.

The centres also have 2,750 litres of biofertilisers, 846 kg of Trichoderma viride and 150 kg of Pseudomonas, which are used as biological control agents.

Farmers requiring these inputs have been advised to contact their respective block agricultural extension centres to avail themselves of the supplies at subsidised rates.

Meanwhile, a total of 5,868 tonnes of fertilisers are available for sale through private and cooperative fertiliser outlets in the district to meet the requirements of paddy, sorghum, maize, black gram, groundnut, sesame and sugarcane cultivation.

The stock comprises 1,617 tonnes of urea, 939 tonne of diammonium phosphate (DAP), 696 tonne of potash, 2,437 tonne of complex fertilisers and 179 tonne of superphosphate, the Collector said.
