The Agriculture Department in Aravakurichi block of Karur district is offering a 100% subsidy to farmers for establishing black gram demonstration plots under the Pulses Self-Sufficiency Mission.

Under the scheme, agricultural inputs worth Rs.10,000 per hectare, including high-quality seeds, bio-fertilisers, MN mixture and a crop growth enhancer known as ‘Payir Athisayam’, will be provided to farmers. Subsidies will also be extended on a reimbursement basis for crop maintenance activities such as weeding, spraying of pest repellents and the formation of raised beds.

Black gram seeds will be supplied at a subsidised rate of ₹60 per kg. Farmers who establish seed farms and supply seeds to the government will also be eligible for incentives.
Aravakurichi Block Assistant Director of Agriculture Raja has urged interested farmers to make use of the scheme and avail themselves of the benefits.
