Aavin faces hurdles in achieving Deepawali sweets sales

Sweets need to be supplied to distributors several days ahead of Deepawali to enable them to display the products at their outlets and promote sales among customers.

Aavin has set a target of selling sweets worth ₹80 crore across Tamil Nadu during the Deepawali festival, with the Tiruchi Aavin unit tasked with selling three tonne of sweets.

Preparations to manufacture various sweets, including palkova and Mysore pak, have been under way at the Tiruchi Aavin unit for the past three days. However, with just five days remaining for Deepawali, the unit is reportedly facing difficulties in dispatching the prepared sweets to its distributors.

Sweets need to be supplied to distributors several days ahead of Deepawali to enable them to display the products at their outlets and promote sales among customers. However, with production having commenced only recently, delays in distribution are likely to affect sales.

There are concerns that delays in the Government's administrative process could prevent Aavin from achieving its sales target, resulting in revenue losses for the organisation. At the same time, if sales are affected due to the non-availability of sweets on time, distributors may also have to bear the resulting losses.

Against this backdrop, there is a growing expectation that the Aavin management should take immediate steps to expedite production and ensure that all the sweets are supplied to distributors well ahead of Deepawali.
