Karur District Collector C. Muthukumaran has instructed licensed firecracker shops in the district to strictly adhere to safety norms ahead of Deepavali.

Shop owners have been directed to use quality electrical equipment, store firecrackers only up to the permitted limits and avoid using lamps and candles inside their shops, among other safety measures.

The Collector also advised the public to ensure that children burst firecrackers only under adult supervision. He warned that legal action would be taken against shops found violating the prescribed safety regulations.
