An awareness marathon to promote road safety and prevent accidents was organised jointly by the district administration and the Goodwill Foundation on Friday.

More than 500 participants, including men and women, took part in the event, which began at the Vanchur roundabout. The three-kilometre marathon was held from Nagore.

Nabi from Kerala won the first place in the men’s category, while Ranjitha, also from Kerala, secured the first place in the women’s category.

The winners were later presented with cash prizes and certificates at the Nagapattinam District Sports Stadium.

The marathon was flagged off by Nagapattinam Sub-Divisional Assistant Superintendent of Police Priyanka Parkav and Revenue Divisional Officer Sankaranarayanan.
